The Loyola Marymount men's soccer team saw its quest for the NCAA College Cup come to an end Thursday when Sacramento State's Bryan Baker scored in overtime to send Sacramento State to the second round with a 2-1 victory at LMU. The Lions (10-9-2) had rallied from a one-goal deficit, only for Baker to head home the winner in the 96th minute to send the Hornets (12-5-3) to their 10th straight decision without a defeat. Baker scored the game-winner off of Fernando Cabadas' free kick.

Heading into tonight's game, the Portland State women's volleyball team will be playing for more than just the final win of the season. The Vikings also appear to have their best chance to chalk up a win at Sacramento State, their first since joining the Big Sky Conference in 1996. "We still have an opportunity to do something we haven't done this year," said head coach Michael Seemann.

Their middle, Maddison [Thivierge], is a zero-tempo hitter. That means she’s up early, and she makes your middles commit early—which puts a lot of pressure on them [defensively]   -Michael Seemann

A day of rest was on the agenda first, then preparations began for the rematch of one of the most exciting games the Eagles played in the 2008-09 season. Eastern played three games in four nights to start the season, closing that stretch with a fast-paced 100-88 victory over Whitman on Tuesday (Nov. 17). Tipoff Saturday is 5 p.m. Pacific time in a game carried via radio in the Spokane area on 1050-AM.

So (Wednesday) was our day off. We have Thursday and Friday to prepare for Texas Arlington, then we'll go down there and try to get ready.   -Kirk Earlywine
